The first weeks of summer bring with them new routines and new activities, later bed times, travel and BBQ’s.
Your kids should also receive their final report card in the first few weeks after school let’s out.
A report car represents achievement and completion. We are big propondents of seasonal changes and times of work and times for rest.
We mark these moments and seasonal changes with celebration achievements in the past season of action.
I encourage you to make a big deal out of the closing of another school year, specifically around their grades on the final report card.
Research shows that children whose fathers are actively engaged in their education, by presence on campus, taking active interest in assignments and giving praise for jobs well done, do better in the long term.
In our family we are debating whether to provide monetary reward ($5.00 per A), a tangible reward (trip to favorite restaurant or special toy) or both – for a good final report card.
In any regard we are doing our best to make this a BIG deal and celebrate milestones and achievements.
Make sure your kids know that their efforts are valued and that you are proud of them – it will pay dividends!
