Mental health and what we are doing about it!

Men’s mental health is a crisis in America. I strongly believe that most all of the social ills can be traced back to the stability in our homes and the presence of a engaged father in our childhood.

See our recent post on “Father Fiction”  to shed light on the concept of a father wound that effects all of us as we become men, husbands and fathers. You do what you know, unfortunately.

We can blame ourselves as a society. We don’t prepare fathers in our culture, here’s a tweet to shed light on that – Books available on Fatherhood at public library

The nuclear family is the best way to replicate good fathers and mothers, to raise up next generations of citizens participating in this life. We need boys and girls to grow into men and women.

Mental health issues that men endure bleed into every aspect of our society.

Now, i understand MOST people, err men, are not openly dealing with these issue. It isn’t apparent on the surface. But, even as a guy who strives to lead the #dadlife with gusto, even I am at risk of these issues.

I believe that building up men to be better men, husbands and fathers will do more to change the world than any other social program across all socio-economic bands.

So how do we do this? It is a communal life, but it starts where you are.

We will begin our assault on men’s mental health by offering a few tools:

  1. Dad and Me – experiential activities for Dad’s and kids (age appropriate programming) to help promote conversations.
  2. Weekly Small Group / Social Group content and conversation materials to build men up.
  3. Classroom Based Study – with video content participants guides, leader guides, online tools to equip men.
  4. Quarterly Live Seminar / Gathering to promote the communal concept of good fathering
  5. Monthly “Dad and Me” at School to demonstrate the importance of education and build character
  6. One to One Mentoring Facilitation – 12 monthly mentoring guides with self study components and mentor training/support to help sharpen the saw and benefit from collective learning.
